Kids Table Project

The kids needed a place to color, to eat snacks and to generally use as their own space at their level. Kids being kids, it had to be durable, cleanable and not a great loss should destruction occur.

This project used wood from a variety of sources. The redwood is leftover from some landscaping timbers. The base of the table top is particle board, and this was salvaged from the pallet base that a new computer at work was shipped on. Dumpter diving rocks! The edging is more of the pipe straping blocks that the oval coffee table and foot stool are made of. The plywood in the chairs is left over from building the crib. The only new item bought was the laminate for the top!

I finished the wood with orange shellac, and put no top coat on so I could refinish as needed. So far the shellac has proven easy to clean.
