Altar Guild is responsible
for preparing and tending to the places where Christ the King worship
services are held. The Altar Guild Directress oversees the members
and chair the meetings.
Members of the Altar
Guild are divided into four teams and have Sunday service duties
once every fourth Sunday. If there are enough members, as we do
have on several teams at the present time at the 10:00 service,
then it is every eighth Sunday. They have weekend cleaning every
eighth week along with two group cleanings - one the Saturday before
Christmas and the other on Holy Saturday. Members are expected to
help with the decorating of the church for Christmas and Easter
Services. Christmas decorating is done on Christmas Eve Day and
Easter decorating on Holy Saturday after the cleaning. They are
to participate in the undecorating of the church from the Christmas
Season on the Epiphany or when the Directress designates. And they
may be asked to help with special services, such as funerals, weddings,
ordinations, seasonal services, etc. There are at least two meetings
a year - one several weeks before Christmas and the other several
weeks before Easter. We are part of the Worship Team and help and
work closely with the clergy; therefore, loyalty and commitment
are essential if the priest is to lead the parish in worship with
equanimity. Our motto is: Duty makes us do it well. Love makes us
do it beautifully. The members review and
discuss any changes at their meetings and the Worship Team plans
and reviews with the Altar Guild Directress each season at their
meetings.
Anyone with a willingness and
commitment to do a good job is welcome to join us.
