Christ the King

Daughters of the King

    MISSION:
To live in and demonstrate Christ's love by nourishing a faith community
and intentionally sharing Christ's love with others.

Current ministries and activities:

Daughters of the King, current Chapter President - Kay Seiler.

Ministry Task: Prayer, service and evangelism. Attend a monthly two-hour meeting where the reading (devotional selected by members of the Esther-Macrina chapter) assignment is discussed. The business discussion is usually the last twenty minutes of the monthly meeting. We try to go out for dinner in place of the monthly meeting about two times a year. Pray daily the weekly prayer request list gathered from Clergy and Daughters. Assist in bread delivery to newcomers visiting Christ the King each Sunday. Prepare bread delivery packets to be used for newcomer bread delivery and making saltboxes.  We usually participate in three service projects during the year that the Outreach Team has going on (i.e. CROP Walk, Turkey Shoot, and hosting Interfaith Family Shelter one Monday evening). Our chapter also supports a Haitian child, which requires each Daughter to donate $25 per year to assist in the child's support.

Gifts and Skills Needed: Intercessory prayer, a servant heart and the ability to take Christ with you out into the everyday world.

Time Commitment: Two-hours monthly to attend the chapter meetings, three to four hours per month to complete the devotional reading assigned for the chapter meeting, one to two-hours each Sunday your assigned for bread delivery (the time varies on the number of newcomers and what city they live in), twenty to thirty minutes per day for daily prayer, twenty to thirty minutes per day for reading the Bible. Once a candidate completes their training and is admitted to the Order of the Daughters of the King they are making a "Lifetime commitment" to daily prayer, service and evangelism.  Officers of the chapter (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) put in additional time for their monthly report/minutes, agenda or bread delivery schedule updates for chapter meetings.

Training Required: Candidates for Daughters of the King take an eight-week training course before determining if they want to take the vows of admission to the Holy Order of the Daughters of the King. Each training session is two-hours long and requires preparation of a candidate prior to the session (reading assignment, reading scripture and answering questions).

Resources/Support Available: Any of the current officers or chapter Daughters.
