With 22 years of experience, Judy knows all the ins-and-outs of children's books and toys. That's why she hired managers Shelly and Stacy Dragan (they're identical twins, so they'll have you seeing double), plus 10 experienced employees to help them out and help you or your child find exactly what you need.

frequent buyer program
We encourage you and/or your children to visit the store as often as you like. After all, you'll be building their minds, and perhaps your imagination, every time you buy a book or toy. So don't lose your "Children's Mercantile Frequent Buyer" card. Here's how it works: Spend $25, and we'll stamp your card. Spend another $25, and we'll stamp it again. That's right, every time you spend $25, you get stamped. Get ten stamps, and we'll give you a $25 credit, which may be redeemed on your next purchase of $25 or more.

Raise money for your school. All purchases made by parents, teachers and friends will be recorded at the time of purchase. 20% of the total purchase will be returned to your school, in the form of a gift certificate, just in time for the new school year!

Sign your children up for our Birthday Club, and receive a 10% discount card for use during their special month. It's our way of saying "Happy Birthday" to you and them.

Every little thing children do is magic, and you can add even more magic to their lives by sending them a book a month through our Magic Book Club. We do the shopping and shipping. You get all the credit. Here's how it works…
- When you place your order, we'll ask for the recipient's name, address
and phone number…but we want to know more so we can pick the perfect
book. Age? Likes and dislikes? What they like to read? Brothers or sisters?
You get the picture. Then, we go to work picking a book that works magic
for that particular child.
- How about a library-building subscription? We'll pick wonderful
sets of books a child can grow into or a collection of folk or fairy tales
a child can enjoy for years to come.
- We'll gift wrap and send our first selection (via UPS Ground) with a note explaining how many months of books they'll be receiving as a gift from YOU! Phone, fax or e-mail us your personal note, and we'll include it in the package. You pay the book price, plus tax and shipping. We'll send you an itemized receipt.
- We'll keep a record of the books sent to avoid duplication. Simply
call, reference the child's name and ask for a specific book that
you'd like included in next month's package. Wouldn't it be fun to pick
a book you enjoyed as a child?
- Tell us when you want the subscription to start? How long you want it to last (six month minimum)? Your book budget? Then, it's like magic. The books appear. The child reads, learns and grows - and you've had a magic hand in it all.
A Tisket a Tasket…Build a Bountiful Basket
We have a gift for creating "custom-stuffed" baskets filled with toys, books, tapes, CDs and lots of love! Pick a unique, educational gift ideal for showers, birthdays from one to one hundred, hospital stays, summer camp - you name it.
1. What's your budget? $50-$75 is ideal for babies and toddlers; $75 and up for 5 years and up. We'll include toys, board books, a tape or CD and a library-building book in the baby/toddler basket, while the basket for older children may include science, music and/or art toys, plus a library-building book or two, as well as a tape or CD. It's all up to you and your budget.
2. Give us the information we need to fill the basket. When you place your order in the store or over the phone, we'll ask you about the child and his/her family. Name? Likes and dislikes? Items you'd like included? Parent's name? Phone number and address? We'll even call the parents if there are questions you can't answer.
After the order is taken, we'll file the information under the recipient's name so there's no duplication should you order at another time OR for a child in the same family.
3. How do you want the basket delivered? We'll need seven days to prepare the basket for delivery. After that, you can pick the basket up and deliver it yourself or we'll ship it UPS Ground (approx. $15-$20). We can also ship second or third-day UPS for an additional charge.
