This is a list that I made as a guide for all of you who are as lost in getting miniatures as I am (was?). Look through the Bestiary, it's your friend. Don't feel that you have to use the monster tables that they have. Make your own from the miniatures that you have and can get cheaply! The "other" monsters in the WQ box: -Minotaur: minotaur champion, minotaur hero -Skaven (clanrats): skaven clanrat champion, skaven chieftain, gutter runner, skaven assassin, skaven deathmaster, skaven stormvermin, stormvermin champion, skaven warlord -Orc: orc boss, orc big boss, orc war boss, big'uns (see Orc Lord pack) -Goblin: goblin boss, goblin big boss -Giant Spider: gigantic spider Lair of the Orc Lord: -Skabnoze: orc shaman, orc shaman champion, orc shaman lord -Gorgut: orc boss, big boss, war boss (better choice than regular orc) -Growler: wild cave squig, trained cave squig -Orc Big 'Uns: orc, orc boss, orc big boss, orc war boss Catacombs of Terror: -Van Damneg The Dread King: liche, liche king -Gunther Laranscheld: necromancer, necro. champion, master necro., necro. lord -Tomb Guardians: skeletons -orcs, skaven, etc: zombies (why do they have to be human?) Plastic Miniature Boxes (almost the most for your money!): -Beastmen: beastmen champs, heros, lords, shamans, shaman champs -Chaos Warriors: champs, heros, lords, sorcerers, master chaos sorcerers -Dark Elves: warriors, champs, heros, lords, assassins, beastmasters, sorcerer, sorcerer champ, master sorcerer, sorcerer lord -Skeletons: tomb guardians Battle Masters (the most for your money): This is a boardgame made by Milton Bradley about two years ago, originally retailed at $30. It holds around 100 miniatures, that bear AMAZING similarities to WQ monsters. There are chaos warriors, chaos cavalry, beastmen, orcs, goblin wolf riders, and an ogre. There are also a range of Empire (human) forces which, with a little work, could be a controlled army that could be the source of countless new adventures! I got the set on discount for $12, yes that's right, twelve dollars! It's easy to see why this is the best buy. Advanced HeroQuest: I've heard that they are on the same scale, and since this is now out of print, availability is scarce. If you run across a set at a garage sale, it's probably worth it. Stores that have an old copy of the game might sell it for less, who know? by Will Pattison
