The Potion of Lycanthropy By Stewart N. Thorpe (high_druid@juno.com) Copyright 1997 More writings of Stewart N. Thorpe can be found at http://www.chez.com/stonecircle/ This potion was created by an insane druid heretic who became an alchemist after being exiled and excommunicated from his old religion. Somewhere in his madness he devised a desire to cause lycanthropy, the condition that turns normal humans into a Were Creature. Using his druidic knowledge and power from a daemon pact from Khorne he created this foul potion. It is said that in the end he accidentally drank one of his own potions. Because he was a madman full of rage, heavy stress, and anger he never resided to his human form for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, he left record in several scrolls of how to create his invention. If this potion is misidenified [a failed roll], it will appear to be a Potion of Healing or even some kind of other similiar effect potion. If this potion is identified it will appear as a mysteriosu potion, a Druid however, will recoginize it for what it is. Even so, if one listens right to the bottle's glass you can hear an almost constant wails of rage and of a madman... The drinker for D6 rounds gains S+1 T+1 [and/or is healed of] W+D6 [minimum is 2]. Meaning that this healing can raise the drinker's W level above normal, but the healed wounds don't revert when the potion's effects wears off. They will also gain the two skills listed on the Familiar Table of the same type as their were creature's spirit. Only let the drinker aware that they feel better, wounds disappear or lessen, etc. Also hint at their other abilities, they might realize a blow that wouldn't of injured does or they might see some tracks and follow them as good as any hunter. If asked by others how they did it they simply won't know. At the same time, the drinker also becomes subject to permenant [doesn't leave after the normal 10 to 60 minute duration is over but stays forever more] an uncontrollable lycanthropy. When the victim is experiencing anger, heavy stress or hatred they must make a Cool test or shape change to their animal form in D6 rounds. A full moon triggers the victim to shape change in the same fashion but no Cool test is allowed. While in the Were Creature form they have an irrational rage and uncontrollable desire to kill and also have the alignment: Chaotic (Khorne). And after more and more blood is shed by the werecreature, it becomes darker and darker as a person in human form. Over time, their alignment slowly goes to Chaotic (Khorne). Every D6 months, their alignment moves one step toward the alignment of Chaos. Once Chaotic they will recoginize Khorne worshippers at sight and feel a strange kinship to them... Often, when the victim of this curse resides to their human form, they'll find people or animals around them dead with blood on their own hands and face. This is truly a tragic and wicked curse that causes only misery and suffering for the victim of this potion. Fortunately, the knowledge of creating this evil potion is scarce and it requires knowledge that only a Druidic Priest would know. Also, when attempting to tame such a were-spirit the Druidic Priest have a -10% penalty. If a person after having such a were-spirit becomes a Druidic Priest, their were-spirit will awaken but free of all rage and traces of it's dark past. This is yet another reason that Druids never write down their knowledge and only pass it by tongue. And when it is written down, the Druids know (by visions) and will go to any length to destroy such records. Required ingredients includes the mixing of the a pint of bloods of each of the following creatures together [each addition is must be immediately dedicated to the dark god Khorne- one doesn't have to be a follower to do this]: A Were Creature (whether it be in human or animal form) A Beastman, Mutant, or Chaos Warrior that shares a feature of the Were Creature (Bestial Face, etc.) A madman who believes he has Lycanthropy but really doesn't have it (a type of Delusion mental disorder) After the mixture is stirred thoroughly, add two doses of Beastbane and a dried hand of a Druidic Priest is then added which then is boiled for 24 hours while the spells Cause Animosity, Cause Hatred, and Cause Frenzy are each cast over it once. The Druids understand and sense when the urge and frequency of shape changing is the greatest (Called the Day of Wereing). The exact date for this changes every year and only can be determined by someone who has been a druid. This potion may not be made on any other day then the Day of Wereing. These preparations effectively trap the soul of the Were Creature into the potion and drives it to the state of pure rage and an uncontrollable desire to kill.
