- Mar 30, 1999 The rxtx in box has been run through wmf see the support link above for details. Tonight we will add htdig for searching capability.
- Mar 27, 1999 rxtx-1.3-2 was released today. Multiple fixes for read(), close(), drain() and the build files. Thank you to Daniel Lintjens, Will Kassebaum and Wayne Roberts for reporting problems. Special thanks to Douglas Lau for providing solutions. There are no known serious problems with the serial comm. The printer support is moving forward slowly.
- Mar 20, 1999 Douglas Lau's extensive changes have firmed up enough for a larger audience. Additionally a working environment was created for printer support work if anyone is interested. Download rxtx-1.3-1.tar.gz and let us know how it works.

- Mar 17, 1999 rxtx-1.3 was placed into cvs. rxtx-devel is the module name (vs rxtx for 1.2). Its building against jdk 1.2 and 1.1.7 on linux. Tar balls will be released after a couple modifications get in. This is a developer release.
- Mar 16, 1999 rxtx-1.2-2 was released today. Finally got jdk 1.2 downloaded so the details of getting rxtx to work with 1.1.7 and 1.2 could be worked out. Minor build changes.
- Mar 12, 1999 rxtx-1.2-1 was released today. Minor changes to fix build problems with java-1.2. . There will be another release shortly with the rxtx.spec file fixed up. If any debian users are out there, nows a good time to submit a working config. 1.3 is still some time from release.

- Mar 5, 1999 its 2:15 am. I just finished making an exam and lab for UNIX 281. I've got 10 hours of class tomorrow and wont be back into town until sunday night. Douglas has mentioned some makefile problems. I hope to squash them monday. Those of you that are just looking to get something working check the download page for rxtx-1.2. The new work will be released as 1.3; a developers release.
- Mar 4, 1999 Douglas Lau sent in his changes to rxtx. The entire tarball can be found here as we recieved it. His changes will be merged into the CVS tree this week. Great work Douglas. The changes are significant. Plan on using linux-2.2 kernels with the latest glibc. If you've been trying to port rxtx to another unix with problems, this may be what you've been waiting for.
- Feb 28, 1999 rxtx-1.2 was released today as mentioned. Minor build fixes for libc5 and linux 2.0 systems. Also, a latency fix. (now down to 22 ms on read). Moved to automake 1.4.
- Feb 1, 1999 rxtx-1.2-beta-2 was released today. Stopbit and Speed fixes (Stephen Martin). linux libc5 build fix (Cornelius Neubacher). Specialix card support (Jose Matos). Hardware flow control error message correction (Bob Carptenter and Steve Swicord). Sane Event notification defaults (Neil Darlow).
- Jan 25, 1999 Just a note today. Event notification appears to be implemented for linux-2.2 kernels. A seperate event notification for production kernels on linux is needed (thanks to Neil Darlow for pointing this out).
- Dec 28, 1998 rxtx-1.2-beta-1 was released today. Extensive native code rewrite. The package should be fully functional on linux. Let us know if there are any problems. Some Platforms will not support event notification.
- Dec 20, 1998 rxtx-1.2pre11 was released today. Event notification (FE, BI, PE, OE) and bug fixes.

- Dec 14, 1998 rxtx-1.2pre10.1 was released today. The bug found was worth a quick release. Developers will find fun additions for event notification which was being worked on when the bug was found. Event notification (for linux at least) will be out this week.
- Dec 11, 1998 rxtx-1.2pre10 was released today. The sample applications in CommAPI appear to work. rxtx builds on mips-sgi-irix6.2. Thanks to Steve Swicord and Bob Carpenter for reporting the build problems on irix.
- Nov 30, 1998 rxtx-1.2pre8 was released today. Changes include Multiport support, fix for binary reads (Eric Messic), and some impressive early work on hardware flowcontrol/event notification (Wayne Roberts). [Note: Those interested in running blackbox may want to cvs update after downloading.]
- Nov 17, 1998 We recieved a friendly note from Sun today mentioning CommAPI final was released earlier this week.
- Oct 21, 1998 Timeouts appear to be working in the cvs archive. Threshold, framing and buffer sizes are roughed in. Buffer sizes and frames are not yet used.
- Oct 20, 1998 FreeBSD support has been added to the CVS archive. As soon as we here it works a tarball will be released.
- Oct 14, 1998 rxtx-1.2pre7 was released today. Many fixes. Thanks to David Atkinson, Ciaran Treanor and Micheal Wirtz. Not present is the work we did to implement timeouts. Using c_cc[VTIME] just wont work. Use of threads, signals or even a loopback use of tcpip have been discussed to get around this. Anyone have a good idea? Thanks to Wayne Roberts for help on the timeout problems.
- Oct 6, 1998 rxtx-1.2pre6 was released today. Audited the native source code. More build fixes. Speed control should work properly. Added a link for OS2 support on the links page. Timeout support is still lacking. We are still looking into it.
- Sept 21, 1998 rxtx-1.2pre5 was released today. hardware flow control, bug fixes, documented source code on the native side and world peace. Blackbox may work. Let us know. Large contributions by Sheldon Young and David Atkinson. RXTX development is fairly active at the moment. I'd suggest using the cvs update after downloading. Especially if you notice speed control problems. Anyone interested in integrating signals for read timeouts please contact taj@www.linux.org.uk.
- Sept 19, 1998 Hardware flow control is in CVS. Waiting on Sheldon Young to make some final changes before an official release. The copy in CVS may fix 'black box' problems people are having. Let us know.
- Sept 11, 1998 David Atkinson's changes have been provided. You can get them as We recieved them. We'll be merging this into the cvs source tree today.

- Aug 28, 1998 rxtx-1.2pre4 released today. minor build changes and sheldon's changes. Changes are in CVS also.

- July 8, 1998 1.2pre3 was released with more verbose errors, compile fixes and a fair number of bug fixes.
- June 6, 1998 Termios is now being passed between java and the native library in the 1.2 release. Several bugs including make fixes and error reporting have been fixed in 1.1.3.

- Apr 7, 1998 1.1.5p1 released. Compile fixes for unix and mingw32 machines. CVS changes added.
- Mar 17, 1998 Version 1.1.5 is available. Initial support for win32 is included. Support is through the mingw32 tool chain. Cygwin32 support will be added when possible and released under a strict GPL.
