Personal: SWM(NS) looking for AGBR, for STR/LCBR (lacerations ok, NO SHIMANO)!
Schooling: lots.
I've fulfilled the requirements (but not yet graduated) for a degree in chemistry, biochemistry, and am finishing microbiology and english with a specialization in creative writing. I've taken lots of classes in geography and geology, and a smattering of Spanish, Japanese, biology, and genetics. You can read my resume if you want more details.
Job Description: spy (retired.)
I currently work at Celestica, a circuit board shop, doing electronics and failure analysis. Previously I worked at Sheldahl where I ran *huge* lasers and had a good time. I've also spent time doing silversmithing for an American Indian jewelry company, been a proofreader, and supported myself making medieval armor.
Ethnic Background: none.
Well, actually, I'm mostly Danish, which is to say that aside from a taste for heavy weaponry and mail armor any sort of cultural background is nonexistent. I hate lutefisk.
Hobbies and Interests: all.
My hobby is collecting hobbies. I spend my time on stuff like: mail armor , bicycling, reading books, writing short stories, Amiga computer foolery, MOOing, bicycling, animation, martial arts, reading short stories, blacksmithing, jewelry-making, motorcycles, isonyms, repairing bikes and cars, machining and metalwork in general, phone bills, runes, reading novels, playing with LEGO's, drawing weird solid shapes , reading about and flying airplanes, playing with lasers, mountain biking, making glass beads, listening to music, hanging out with birds, and reading.
Goals: all.
Specifically, I want to build an airplane, win the Tour de France , get commissioned to make a custom slinky mail teddy for Michelle Pfeiffer, and learn to yodel the Inspector Gadget Theme Song in Swedish. I also would love an exciting, high-paying job reading books, although one in physical biochemistry or mammalian genetic engineering would be ok, too.
Pet Peeves: a few.
and I'm not too fond of drinking, dog-kicking, cat fanatics, big pickups, white supremacists, muggers, The Religious Right, orcs, people who dismiss books without having read them first, Kurt Vonnegut, beef, lime jello with pears topped with a provocative sauce of cream cheese and grated colby cheese sprinkles, country music, drooling babies, Evil People, young boys riding extremely expensive bicycles (aka posers) and public flatulence.
Things That Make Me MELT : a few.
The movie "Blade Runner." Really impressive racers who ride old Schwinn bicycles and sandbag. Beowulf. People who know what the ultimate yield strength of 6Al4V is. Percy Shelley. Japanese calligraphy. Fudge. Royston Green Spiderweb Turquoise. Bananas. Piper Cubs. Planetary gearsets, particularly ones that do unexpected things. Bridgeports. Anything huge and full of intricate and precise moving parts.
A few things people have said about me in the last couple of months: "You're gonna need some Betadine." "Frustrating." "Dr. John, and I don't say that coz of your height." "Yes but you're a freak." "Zoiks, the cat speaks!" "What sort of bleach do you use?" "You're off, all right." "Doesn't that hurt?" "Ok, so how did you get THAT scar?"
I have a brother, whose name is David Bump. He has a cool-o homepage that I think you should see.
Check out my best friend in the whole wide world's homepage, when she gets it back online. Page "Biggs" Sebring is cool and funny and cute, too.
I gratefully acknowledge help from Randy Finch's articles on webpage creation in Amazing Computing, during the last year.
So I went to Reed College and I met this guy. He lived in my dorm. Then I left Reed and wandered around for a while, and began mooing (as described in the page on mooing) and ran into him again. These days, he builds groovy balancing and object-finding robots, and is an SCA fanatic. So if you're into robots and armor, check out Doug Reeder's homepage and tell him what you think.
