Frogman, Front and Back

This two-man display shows the front and back of the typical Frogman uniform. The back view shows how the big opening is rolled shut and then sealed together with a metal clamp to keep it water- and air-tight. This clamp is made of rust-proof metal and it can be released by the wearer of the suit or by another Frogman. The man at the right is showing how the suit includes feet and helmet all in one piece. The vision mask is separate and may be removed in an instant. On this particular type of suit the gloves are attached, as are the feet. The flippers are stepped into, and then the back straps pulled up over the backs of the ankles to hold the flippers on. These big rubber flippers greatly increase the speed and performance of the Frogman, and also give him the peculiar high-stepping walk of the men when still wearing the frog feet on dry land.
