Paddling Partners

I am always looking for partners interested in year round paddling for workout and race training.

My training waters include local lakes in northern Colorado near Fort Collins (e.g., Beaver Pond,Boyd Lake, Horsetooth Reservoir, Lone Tree Reservoir and South Platte and Poudre Rivers when they have enough water.

Lonetree Lake - May 2002

I have completed Texas Water Safari in 2002 and 2003, WaterTribe Everglades Challenge and Colorado River 100 in 2004. My 2005 race calendar includes also some potential races on South Platte and Poudre rivers.

Winter Saturdays on South Platte. I am going to paddle different sections of South Platte River each Saturday (well, almost each...) during winter season till early March. This is paddling for fitness in preparation for long distance races, so you can expect pretty intense workout. Nevertheless, I will use some time for shooting pictures and video. Typical schedule: starting at 9-10am, 1-2 hours of upstream paddling and 0.5-1 hour returning downriver. In addition, I would also like to do some longer downriver paddling along the proposed marathon course.

Winter paddling requires some flexiibility in planning concerning weather and river flow. So, each paddling session and its exact launching location will be confirmed by Friday night. If you would like to join us please contact me by e-mail. Check my paddling weblog for pictures and reports from recent paddling.
