The
Poudre
River was flowing! Not a big water, just about 120cfs at Timnath and a
little bit more upstream in Fort Collins. The water was not coming from the
canyon, so it got to be a reservoir release, probably, from Horsetooth.
The river was too shallow my Sisson
Nucleus, so I took Seda Cyclone white water kayak for an evening paddling. I
started from the Strauss Cabin parking at the end of Horsetooth Road, reached
the river through small ponds in Arapaho Bend
Natural Area, and started to paddle upstream. I didn't go very far
just a couple of miles to Archery Range. I had to walk 3 or 4 times through some
shallow spots with a fast current (water was cold!) but paddling downstream was
OK. I spent almost 2 hours on the river having great workout.
