Boyd Lake - New Year Day Paddling with Sea Wind Canoe

Sea Wind on Boyd Lake
I returned back to Boyd Lake on New Year Day afternoon, but this time I brought Sea Wind. Beautiful sunny weather, calm or light wind, and the opening in ice got even larger. A loop along ice edge with exploring all small coves was about 1.7 mile. I paddle a couple of loops in a cruising mode, but most of the time I spent setting up a bullet cam and trying to shoot some video. A new shooting angle with the bullet cam mounted on a mast 11' above the deck worked fine, but I didn't get any good shots. The scene with a white boat and dark water was just too contrasty in a bright sun for the bullet camera. I need to try this setup again but in overcast conditions.

Weather forecast calls for another winter attack in a couple of days. My open water in Boyd Lake may not survive and water level in South Platte River is dropping down.

Happy New Year to all paddlers and nonpaddlers!
