Colorado River, Utah, from Cisco Landing to Hittle Bottom

Winter, local lakes in northern Colorado are frozen. Maybe, South Platte River is still flowing, but I didn't have time to drive there. I haven't paddled for more than two weeks. Time to dig out in my digital archive. Here is something in a winter scenery from my favorite off season paddling spot - Moab, Utah.

It was a year ago. We visited Moab during the Thanksgiving weekend. The weather offered me only a few photographic moments, but the panoramic picture of the Ida Gulch Rapid at the top of this blog came just from that trip.

At that time I was training for WaterTribe Everglades Challenge 2005, Naturally, I did some paddling in Sea Wind canoe on the Colorado River. I tried a new for me stretch of the river from Cisco Landing to Hittle Bottom. It was 23 miles of relaxing flat water. Fresh snow. Open vistas. A scenery quite different from Westwater Canyon upstream and Professor Valley downstream.
