Sea Wind, the Icebreaker is Back - South Platte River

South Platte River South Platte River South Platte River
Today morning, I repeated the paddling trip on South Platte from the previous weekend, Evans - Kuner, but this time alone. There was really little ice on the river, but all logs and trees in water were covered by frost and icicles. It was a cold day. When I launched at Evans Riverside Park shortly after 9 am the air temperature was around 16 F. After a few minutes of paddling I stopped to put additional cloths on. It warmed up to high thirties at noon when I was finishing at Kuner, but with some breeze I was not overheating.

As usual, I was exercising my Pentax Optio WP, but didn't have much time for shooting.

No paddling for the next 4 weeks. I will be working in France (Gif-sur-Yvette near Paris). I will be back on South Platte probably during the weekend of 18-19 February.

GPS trip odometer: 15.08 miles, moving time: 2:39h, stopping time: 0:20h, average moving speed: 5.7 mph, max speed: 7.3 mph. River flow at Kersey: 590 cfs.
