How to photograph a river? The South Platte Case.

South Platte River
I've got several responses to my recent post South Platte River - Another View or How to Photograph the River? I presented there pictures of old cars used to protect the river banks. Thank you for all e-mails. Unfortunately, nobody likes to use comment feature below a post. Please write comments!

Responses were encouraging. Most of people liked my old cars portfolio. After all a car is a part of American culture. Just a couple months earlier I was shooting Carhenge, a replica of Stonehenge made of old cars, near Alience, Nebraska. Anyway, South Platte cars serve a specific purpose there. Each car has a story. Quite often, you can even check a car odometer. I would prefer nice shores and clean sandbars but after paddling South Platte River for several years I don't really have any negative feelings towards these cars.

Of course, I am shooting different subjects during my paddling trips. The question is rather what should I display online. I am somewhat biased towards presenting "nice" pictures.

I still would have troubles how to present really nasty and disgusting subjects, e.g., what people are throwing from bridges to the river: old furniture, refrigerators, dead animals ...
