Sea Wind Paddling: Virtual Race and Video Shooting

During the last weekend we got more than a foot of snow in Fort Collins, so I had a chance to do some winter paddling again. I couldn't paddle the Sisson kayak since I was fixing tips of my wing paddle after recent shallow water paddling on South Platte River.

On Sunday afternoon I took Sea Wind to Beaver Pond and paddled a 5 mile time trial for the virtual race: 4.85 mph - not so bad for an expedition canoe without much training with single blade paddle during this winter.

I paddled Sea Wind on Wenesday again. Only poor remains of snow were present in Fort Collins, so I drove to Lory State Park which had still a nice winter scenery. I launched at northern Eltuck Cove on Horsetooth Reservoir after using Sea Wind as a sled to get to water from the parking lot. I paddled about 6 miles with some wind and near freezing air temperature.

I spent a lot of time shooting video and pictures, mostly, in Quarry Cove. I got some nice shots before my batteries died in a cold weather. The above picture is one from my water abstract series shot against sunset light.
