When shooting recently in France in freezing temperatures, the battery indicator went to zero at several occasions but the camera never stopped working.
I need more memory and more battery juice in my Pentax for the incoming Ultimate Florida Challenge. It will be four week expedition race. I should have some opportunities to recharge batteries, but the cell phone battery may get higher priority in access to electric power since I have to report my position every 24 hours.
I just bought 1 GB Sandisk SD Plus card with USB port after forgetting to take a camera USB cable for my recent trip. At first, the Pentax Optio WP refused to work with the new card: card errors. Bummer! I plugged the card into USB port of my PC, download some image files into it, and inserted the card back to the camera. The camera started to work . No problems so far, including uploading pictures from the card to a computer.

I will have 4 Gb of memory which, I hope, will be enough for the trip unless I go crazy with shooting video clips. Pentax Opto WP is not the only camera I am taking.
I also bought a couple of spare batteries on e-bay: NP-40 Fuji Li-ion battery 3.7v 900 mAh (higher capacity than the original Pentax battery), ~$11 including shipping. I cannot comment on performance of these batteries yet. Certainly, they are working with my camera.
Do you have any ideas, suggestions or experiences which may be useful for other Pentax Optio WP/i owners? Have you taken your Pentax Optio for an extended trip or expedition? Please write a comment!
