Reflections at Mid-Life
by Jay Grooters
Story Poems by the Urban Rancher
You've brought to paper a little bit of
heaven, the Rocky Mountains. You capture the life, energy, and spirit of dude ranch
living- all but gone from the Rockies . . .You take me there - smelling the camp fire,
listening to the old cowboy's story, laughing along with everyone else . . . I laughed, I
cried, and was touched by your poems . . . As I read, I saw me in younger years. You let
me tap memories that need to be replayed, enjoyed, and savored. Mark S. A.

With his characterization of "The Urban Rancher", Jay brings his poems about
life on a guest ranch in the Colorado mountains and reflections on his life into story
form. Using his quiet humor, he shares his journey of self-realization from past to
present, and motivates his readers to look inward, discover, grow, and hopefully express
themselves in a way they never have before.
I loved reading your Inner Reflections.
Especially touching was the story of your little brother ... I laughed at The Garden
because that is about how we feel . . . And the Bull Elks Convention was so real I could
actually visualize them peeking in the windows . . . Your father-in-law comes across as a
hoot, 'Son, let's go for a ride . . .' LOVED IT! Rosita Perez, President,
Creative Living Programs, Inc., Brandon, Florida
In the Introduction Jay says, "This collection of personal poetry reflects
one person's journey of self-enlightenment as he moves through Mid-Life ... My goal is to
entertain you, to touch you deep where you live, encourage you to look inward, discover,
grow, and express yourself in a way you never have before."
Thank you for your poems, the window
into our heart. They really reflect tremendous depth of personal insight and soul
searching. John Crudele, CSP, John Crudele Speeches and Seminars, Minneapolis,
Minnesota
