Captain Garvu Quinn is the head of Murky Depths Privateering operations. A quiet Duro by nature, Quinn prefers to prove his talents in the cockpit, although his understated style of leadership is unquestionably effective. Garvu is an accomplished officer, having graduated as the top capital ship pilot in his New Republic Naval Academy class. Among his achievements, Quinn tallies a medal for Valor Above and Beyond the Call of Duty. Officers and crewers of the New Republic's 4th Fleet still recount the tale of how two years ago, the then-Lieutenant Quinn successfully defended a transport convoy against an Imperial Star Destroyer, using only the Corellian Gunship under his command.
Lt. Commander Quinn retired from the New Republic Navy a few months after a court martial for disobeying a direct order. The charges were a shock to the entire 4th Fleet, because they were over Quinn's nearly legendary defense of the freighter convoy, which later saved his battle group. Obeying the evacuation order would have doomed his squadron to destruction, instead of creating a decisive victory. Rumors abounded that the trial was a politically motivated sham, but although he was given no punishment and was returned to active duty, Quinn was found technically guilty of disobeying a direct order. Although the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not fully known, most officers have little doubt that Quinn's departure from the Navy was largely due to the insult of a court martial for his heroic actions.
After his sudden resignation from military duty, Garvu Quinn attended a Corellian engineering university, where he finished the studies he had begun at the New Republic Naval Academy. Quinn currently holds an advanced degree in astronautics, with a focus on capital ship design. Upon graduation, Quinn remained on Corellia and began work at Murky Depths Transport Systems, a mid-sized starship repair firm owned by his father, Zebaru Quinn.
